Maintenance
Engine & Cabin Air Filters
Engine and cabin air filters inspected and replaced.

Signs you need this
- Weak airflow from the vents
- A musty smell when the fan comes on
- Reduced fuel economy or sluggish acceleration
The engine air filter keeps dirt out of the intake; when it clogs, the engine works harder and economy drops. The cabin air filter cleans the air coming through your vents, and in a city like Toronto it loads up with dust, pollen, and road grit faster than most people expect.
Both are quick to change and easy to check. We'll show you the old one rather than just telling you it's dirty.
Common questions
How often should air filters be replaced?
Engine air filters typically go 20,000 to 30,000 km, cabin filters about once a year. Dusty routes, construction, and heavy city driving shorten both. We check them at every service and only recommend replacement when the filter is actually loaded.
What does the cabin air filter do?
It filters everything the blower pulls into the interior — dust, pollen, soot, and leaves. A blocked one weakens airflow from the vents, fogs the windshield more easily, and is the usual cause of a musty smell when the fan comes on.
Will a dirty engine air filter hurt fuel economy?
A badly blocked filter restricts airflow and makes the engine work harder, which you feel as sluggish acceleration. Modern engines compensate for a lot, so the bigger risk is dirt reaching the mass airflow sensor and the intake.
