When a used vehicle changes ownership and is being plated, when a rebuilt vehicle is returning to the road, and when a vehicle is brought in from another province or imported. Your insurer or ServiceOntario will tell you if your situation needs one.

Thirty-six days from the date of inspection in Ontario, so don't have it done far in advance of the sale or the plating. It also certifies the vehicle's condition on that day only — it isn't a warranty.

You get an itemized list of every item that failed and a quote to correct them. You're free to have the work done elsewhere and come back for the re-inspection — there's no obligation to have us do the repairs.

No. Every safety inspection is done on the vehicle, in our shop, by a licensed technician. Any shop offering a certificate without seeing the car is breaking the rules, and the certificate isn't worth the risk to you or anyone else on the road.

Yes, for light-duty and heavy-duty trucks with a gross or registered gross weight over 4,500 kg, such as heavy-duty pickups, cube vans, and straight trucks. Ontario requires these to pass an annual inspection and carry a valid certificate and decal. We don't inspect buses or trailers.
