Brake fluid is hygroscopic — it pulls moisture out of the air over time. Water in the system lowers the boiling point, which means the pedal can go soft under hard or repeated braking, and it corrodes brake lines and calipers from the inside.
We test the moisture content rather than guessing, then flush and refill with the correct specification fluid.

How often should brake fluid be changed?
Most manufacturers call for every two to three years regardless of mileage. It's a time-based service rather than a distance one, because the fluid absorbs moisture from the air whether you drive or not.
Why does brake fluid need changing if it isn't leaking?
Brake fluid is hygroscopic — it pulls in moisture through the hoses and reservoir over time. Water lowers the boiling point, so hard braking can boil the fluid and give you a pedal that sinks, and it corrodes calipers and ABS components from the inside.
What are the signs of old brake fluid?
A soft or spongy pedal, or a pedal that fades on a long descent. Often there are no symptoms at all until it matters, which is why we moisture-test the fluid rather than judging it by colour.
