When balancing your tires there are a lot of different balancing options available on the market. In most cases a dynamic balance will do just fine. There are also situations where road force balancing is necessary. Even brand-new tires can come with issues that lead to vibration. Road force balancing takes balancing to the next level.

Dynamic balancers are not equipped to be tire diagnostic machines. They do not have the ability to guide a technician towards diagnosing possible tire issues, nor does it provide corrective measures in order to reduce, and or eliminate tire vibration or pulling. This is where the road force machine towers over its competition.

Why Road Force balance your tires?

The unique thing about balancing your tires with a road force machine is that the machine duplicates road pressure as if the tire was driving down the road. The machine lowers a wheel that applies around 1250 ft-lbs. of force and spins it at a high speed. The sensors in the machine analyze the data sent back to the computer and it return it displays the force that is coming out of the tire. Even newer tires can have a high road force reading. We have customers that come to us all the time complaining that they have gone to various other shop and got their tires balanced and still have a vibration. Don’t lose hope there is a solution. The road force balancer shows the way to correct the high road force by matching the high spot of the rim with the low spot of the tire. Creating a much lower force being exerted out of the tires. Correcting that annoying vibration that shops equipped with regular dynamic balancers can not solve.

Dynamic balance due to its limitations is technology of the past. It measures on very few plains compared to modern balancers which use lasers, high-definition capture cameras, and road force.

How to resolve tire vibration?

Two important factors to solve tire vibration is to eliminate any improper installation of the tire, and to have all tires road force balanced. First, using a method called bead massage which helps aid in tires that are not installed properly, a tire machine applies force on both sides of the tire at the bead and seats the tire to make sure the tire is properly seated and sitting in perfect harmony with the rim. The importance of road force balancing takes out most possibility of having any issues. Each tire comes up with a number for the road force being exerted out by the tire. A technician can then place the tire at the appropriate spot on the rim to reduce road force and in return delivering a smooth ride

Can brand new tires cause pulling and vibration?

It is not uncommon to have brand new tires causing a vibration or pulling. We encounter this consistently in the shop and by using the road force balancer we can provide a computer diagnostic print out. Most tire manufactures require this to fulfill warranty requirements. Vibration in most cases can be resolved by a process called force matching. Force matching in simple terms means that the road force balancer can calculate where the tire has to be installed on the rim to achieve the least vibration.

Can a road force machine detect pulling issues?

Using the StraightTrak feature on the Road Force balancer, the machine can measure the force (in lbs.) being exerted outwards and inwards on each tire. The computer will inform the technician where to place the tires on the vehicle in order to eliminate pulls and vibrations. By doing this procedure it avoids any issues of pulling prior to installing the tires back on the car only to have the customer return dissatisfied. This makes the vehicle more enjoyable to drive and avoids unnecessary costs of tire replacement.

Delivering the best installation and balancing is what every customer should expect. By Road Force balancing your next set of tires you will avoid wasting time returning to the tire shop to re-balance problematic tires only to leave to find out it still vibrates at highway speeds. Unnecessary cost to replace tires that do not need to be replaced is a common mispractice with tire shops that do not use a Road Force machine to balance. By using features on a tire machine such Bead Massage, and on the road force balance such as StraightTrak and Road Force calculations, it surpasses all industry standards and gives you the most precise balancing and tire diagnostic on the market
